Last spring, the Maryville women’s lacrosse team played five games before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the pandemic. But that didn’t deter team members from finding creative ways to challenge each other in the weight room and on the field.
Even though the season has been shortened, rescheduled and even paused at times because of the pandemic, Maryville Saints are thankful they had the chance to compete this year.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference’s Council of Presidents voted to postpone the majority of the Fall 2020 intercollegiate athletics season until the second semester, due to ongoing concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.
Maryville is known as a University that is ahead of the curve in the classroom. But you could also say the same about its pace in the athletic department as it was one of the first universities to add a STUNT team in 2018.
In partnership with Maryville University’s Rawlings Sport Business Management Program, the St. Louis Blues established Blues Gaming, a new esports division that will focus on the creation of engagement opportunities with the gaming and esports community.
The St. Louis region and the state of Missouri have become a hotbed of hockey. Maryville is contributing to this expansion with the addition of a new women’s ice hockey club team.
Jesse Shaw is the new head men’s basketball coach of the Saints program. He comes to Maryville after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
