GAME DAY

GAME DAY

webstaff

The Maryville women’s ice hockey team celebrated its inaugural home game at the Maryville University Hockey Center in February. Freshman Emma Gerwitz scored the first-ever home goal against Lindenwood University during the third period. Another milestone achievement for the Lady Dawgs was the team’s move up into the ACHA Division I level for its inaugural season. The team was originally slated to start at the Division II level, but due to circumstances surrounding the pandemic the team reapplied and was granted its new status. “We want to be the best, so we have to play the best,” said John Hogan, Maryville’s director of hockey operations.
